Introduction

Three motifs around Japan are offered in this exciting collection: sakura flowers on a full moon background; Japanese vases and a zen garden landscape. They are all in the dominant blues that we find in Asian porcelains. Parchment paper, made sheet by sheet from cotton scraps, is particularly suited to the pattern; the notebook takes on the dimension of a small treasure, a book of secrets, and a decorative object. These notebooks are sold, in addition to other museums, at the Louvre, and the paper has been treated to receive any type of ink: you can write on it with a pen or even draw with watercolor.
