At the same time, the steel nib dip pen began to replace quill pens as the primary writing instrument. Herbin, the commercial establishment founded by Jacques Herbin in 1670, relocated to expand the production and influence of their sealing wax and inks.

Kyanite is a bright deep turquoise. The clouds of silver shimmer flow through the turquoise ink just like the Kyanite mineral found in the Kali Gandaki region of Nepal. Kyanite is recognized as a noble mineral due to its similarity to the rich tones of sapphire.
