Each Custom Urushi pen barrel is skillfully lacquered, cured, and polished three times to create an exquisite, ebonite finish in combination with luxurious custom gold elements. Production is completed only my skilled craftsman all in house to make sure the unsurpassed Pilot quality standards are met. The whole process to complete this pen from start to finish takes 6 months.

Japanese lacquer, called “Urushi” , is a natural material taken from Japanese lacquer trees. Distinct properties of Urushi lacquer create a higher quality product, with greater strength and aesthetics, compared to alternative lacquering materials.
